Jessica Prosperi made her daughter’s dream come true by booking an Airbnb stay in Indianapolis for a Taylor Swift concert. It was a weekend of music, excitement, and adventure for the mother-daughter duo.

However, the excitement came to an abrupt end when they realized they had booked a stranger’s home. “I tried to open the door, it was unlocked, I walked in, my daughter was behind me, the lights are off except for in the bathroom, I can see there are shoes on the ground, and it looks like it was used, and I was like ‘okay, this seems really weird,'” Jessica said.
The Man Who Lives There
A man, identified as Joshua Simon, emerged from his bedroom, saying, “This is my loft, I own it, and I don’t have this on Airbnb.” According to Simon, he had never been contacted by a short-term rental company to rent his place out.
The Aftermath
13News spoke to the man who lives inside the apartment, Joshua Simon, who said, “I feel bad for them, but I do feel like it’s a small inconvenience that I was woken up, but I do feel bad for them.” Jessica Prosperi is still waiting to hear back from Airbnb about a refund.
A Word of Caution
“I would say avoid it until Airbnb and other companies can improve their policies that they have in place,” Jessica advised. “They need to have better checks and balances to ensure that people are not getting scammed like we did.”

Prosperi told 13News she was able to get in contact with Airbnb support but will be unable to get her refund until later this week.
